iGP's Community Heart Screening provides access to discounted heart screening appointments to patients in Cardiff & South Wales. These screening sessions are physiologist led, with echocardiograms reviewed on the day by a cardiologist.
Appointment Information: An ECG and Echocardiogram is carried out by a Cardiac Physiologist, with the scan then reviewed and reported, on the day, by a Cardiologist. Our nurse will also take your height, weight and blood pressure measurements.When you book an appointment you will receive a confirmation email which will include a questionnaire and consent form that will need to be completed online before your appointment.
Suitability: For those that are asymptomatic (have no symptoms), who would like to screen for potential abnormalities. Suitable for those over 18 years of age with no existing heart conditions. Community heart screening is not suitable for those over 75 and we recommend those wishing to have heart screening to book an adult echocardiogram screen.

At iGP, we want our services to be available to help as many people as possible. Every month we provide a “Community Screening Day” in Cardiff, with discounted fees, to assist patients in the current financial climate.
The Private Cardiologist appointment is carried out in full by the Cardiologist. They are allocated slightly more time and will complete all elements of the appointment themselves. The Community Screening appointment uses a Nurse and Physiologist to reduce the required Cardiologist time and price of the appointment.
iGP's Community Screening is for those 18 years or over, who currently have no heart related diagnosis or symptoms and would like to get heart screened for potential abnormalities.
Dr. Cristina Constantin is a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in Echocardiography. Throughout her career, she has specialised in transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography. In addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Constantin contributes to the academic field as an Honorary Clinical Teacher at Cardiff University and has authored several impactful publications, contributing to international cardiologic conversations and guidelines.
An ECG is a test that measures the electrical impulses produced by the heart. Small electrodes are placed on your chest, arm and legs, and recorded on the ECG machine. ECG appointments are available with a nurse or with one of our consultant Cardiologists.

If you cancel your appointment 24 hours before it starts, then you will receive a full refund. However, If you cancel your appointment within the 24 hour period before the appointment is due, then you will be liable to pay the cost of the consultation. If you do need to reschedule please contact us as soon as possible.
