Who Are iGP?

iGP were the first Private GP practice in Wales to be registered by the HIW (Healthcare Inspectorate Wales) and have been operating for over 20 years. We provide direct access to Private GP appointments and services in a safe, welcoming and discreet environment in clinic or online via phone/video. Appointments are available to adults and children on an individual one off basis and you do not need to be registered with IGP to be seen by our doctors. We are not connected to the NHS and so appointments are not seen or recorded on your NHS records without your explicit consent.

How do I make an online appointment?

Simply book your appointment online or by contacting us directly on 03456 252 252. We will take your details and arrange a suitable appointment time and date. It is our aim to offer our patients an appointment on the day an enquiry is made. However, where no appointments are available, we will endeavour to offer you a suitable alternative. To ensure you have enough time with the clinician, IGP can also provide extended appointments times if requested. Online appointments are available with GMC Registered Private Doctors operating from Healthcare Regsitered clinics.

You will receive an Email and SMS with the appointment details and a link to connect to your video if applicable. There is nothing to install, simply click the link in the email and allow permission for your device to use the microphone and camera when promted. Alternatively, you will be called by the doctor on the number your provided if this was the option you selected.

Once connected you will have time to discuss your concerns and any symptoms you may be experiencing. The doctor will then provide advice and detials about any treamtent or potential screening/testing that may be required.

What to expect during the appointment?

iGP's focus is on the quality of care for our patients. This means that we want to make the process of seeing a private doctor in via phone or video as simple and pleasant experience as possible. When you are connected the doctor will confirm your identification and ask if you require a chaperone to be present. We can provide a chaperone if you would like to request one. The doctor will ask that you provide details of your current symptoms and may also enquire about your past medical history if relevant. Please be aware that as a private practice, we do not have direct access to your NHS medical records.

Can I see an iGP private doctor in clinic?

If you are able to attend an appointment at one of our clinic in Cardiff, Newport or Swansea, appointments are availble on an individual one-off basis and you do not need to register to be seen. Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the appointments?

The appointment are usually 20 minutes, but we recommend a 30 minute appoinment for your first appointment or if you would like more time with the doctor.

What if the video doesn't work?

There are some instances, due to the many different variables involved, which may influence whether the video or phone connection is successful. If a video link is unsuccessful for any reason we will attempt to contact you via phone, so please ensure that you provide a suitable contact number. We recommend that appointments are undertaken either on a phone or tablet as these are usually updated more frequently than laptops and PC's.

The doctor hasn't called or started the video?

We endevour to see all patients at an alloted time. However, if for any reason you do not hear from the doctor at your alloted time, please let us know.

Can you provide advice for children under the age of 16?

We see children under 16 but we are legally unable to provide medical advice to under 16's without parental supervision. The appointment must be booked using the parent or guardian's details. The child must also be accompanied by a parent or guardian with a valid form of photo ID during the online doctor consultation.

What If I Need To Cancel?

If you cancel your appointment 24 hours before it starts, then you will receive a full refund. However, If you cancel your appointment within the 24-hour period before the appointment is due, then you will be liable to pay the cost of the consultation. If you do need to reschedule please contact us as soon as possible.
