View ProfileWhat are pelvic ultrasounds?
Pelvic ultrasounds are an important first step in understanding a wide range of women’s health issues. They provide detailed images of your womb, ovaries, and surrounding structures, helping your clinician to identify causes of pain, bleeding, or fertility concerns, and supporting decisions on whether further tests or treatment may be needed.
Our women’s ultrasound service can help with:
What common conditions do we assess?
Many gynaecological symptoms are caused by benign conditions, but identifying the underlying cause is key to managing your health effectively. Ultrasound is a safe and non-invasive way to detect or monitor these conditions, supporting your ongoing care and helping to guide any future treatment plans.
What to can I expect at an ultrasound appointment?
A pelvic ultrasound usually takes between 15–30 minutes. Depending on your symptoms, this may involve a transabdominal scan (across your lower stomach) and/or a transvaginal scan (internal probe) for greater detail. Your clinician will explain the process clearly and you’ll receive your results promptly.
Please note: These appointments are designed to provide focused assessment and reassurance. They are not a substitute for a full gynaecological consultation or complex investigations. If needed, we will guide you to further care or specialist referral.
