Book NowSkin tag removal is carried out at IGP via surgical excision or hyfrecator (cautery machine). A hyfrecator may be used after an excision to cauterise (seal) the wound or be used independently to remove the skin tag. The nurse who carries out the treatment will assess the most appropriate course of removal.
Appointment Information: Before booking a skin tag removal appointment, please complete our short online assessment questionnaire and upload one or two clear photos of the skin tag you would like treated. This allows our clinicians to review the lesion first and advise on the most appropriate next step, including whether:
This helps avoid you booking or paying for an appointment you may not need.
FREEAppointment Information: If your questionnaire and photos suggest that removal may be appropriate, our team will advise on the most suitable procedure and expected cost before booking. The procedure is usually quick and performed using appropriate local measures where required. You will also be advised on aftercare and expected healing times.
Suitability: Skin tag removal appointments are suitable for benign skin tags that may be causing irritation, discomfort, or cosmetic concern. During the appointment, a doctor will confirm suitability for removal and carry out the most appropriate treatment, which may include cryotherapy, cautery, or minor surgical excision.
Important: All patients must complete the online assessment questionnaire and upload photos before any appointment is booked. This allows our clinicians to review the lesion and recommend the most appropriate appointment type and confirm pricing.
From £189We want to ensure you have all the information you need before booking your appointment. If you have any questions or would like help with booking, you can contact us on 03456 252 252 or use the online chat feature in the bottom right of your screen. Our team are happy to help.
Prior to your procedure, the skin tag and surrounding area will be cleaned thoroughly to avoid any risk of infection. Cauterisation can be a mildly uncomfortable procedure, therefore you will be given a local anaesthetic injection prior to treatment. This will numb the affected area helping avoid any unnecessary pain or discomfort. Once the clinician has confirmed with you that the anaesthetic has taken effect, your skin tag will be excised or cauterised (burnt off) using a hand-held cauterization probe. The heat from the cauterisation will seal the wound, providing less chance of infection. This procedure may leave a small amount of scar tissue, however this will be discussed in detail with your clinician prior to the procedure and you will be advised how to keep this to a minimum.

Prior to having your skin tag removed, your skin tag will need to be assessed by our clinicians to confirm it is suitable for treatment. This is initially carried out via an online skin tag assessment form. The form will ask a number of questions regarding your medical history and will ask you to upload photos of your skin tag. Warts and verrucas are treated differently to skin tags and your clinician will be able to identify if your lesion is appropriate for treatment. You will be contacted after the assessment to either book an appointment for treatment or to provide more information. You may be asked to attend a face to face consultation for further assessment, however most skin tags can be confirmed via our Skin Tag Assessment Questionnaire.
