This is a critical warning
At IGP, we understand the importance of safeguarding against preventable diseases, and our commitment is reflected in our provision of both the single measles vaccine and the triple MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine. Whether you're seeking individual protection against measles or opting for the combined MMR, our experienced healthcare professionals are here to guide you through the vaccination process.
Important: The Serum Institute of India (SII) have stopped manufacturing single rubella vaccines (R Vax). This mirrors what Sanofi Pasteur did with Rudivax (Rubella vaccine) in 2012 . The last batch produced will expire at the end of January 2015. Therefore, the single rubella vaccine will not be available after this date. The single Mumps vaccine has not been available since 2010. This means that only the single Measles vaccine, the Measles and Rubella combined vaccine and the MMR vaccine are now currently available.

Measles, mumps, and rubella are highly contagious viral infections that can lead to serious health complications, including pneumonia, encephalitis, and congenital birth defects. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent these diseases. The Measles vaccine is available as a single dose, while the MMR vaccine protects against all three diseases in one injection.

The single-dose measles vaccine protects specifically against measles, a virus that causes fever, rash, and respiratory symptoms, with potential complications such as encephalitis. The MMR vaccine combines protection against measles, mumps, and rubella in one injection. Both vaccines are administered as part of childhood immunisation schedules and are also recommended for unvaccinated adults or travellers to areas where these diseases are prevalent.
Both vaccines are recommended for children as part of their routine immunisation schedule. Adults who missed vaccination or are traveling to high-risk areas should also get vaccinated. The MMR vaccine is typically preferred for broader protection.
The measles vaccine and the MMR vaccine are both highly effective. Two doses of the MMR vaccine provide 97% protection against measles, 88% against mumps, and 97% against rubella.
Mild side effects, such as soreness at the injection site, low-grade fever, or rash, may occur. Serious side effects are extremely rare. The benefits of vaccination far outweigh the risks.
If you are unsure whether you’ve been vaccinated, consult your healthcare provider. In many cases, it is safe to receive the vaccine again if necessary.
Yes, the measles vaccine can be administered as a single dose for individuals who prefer targeted immunization or have specific medical needs. Discuss options with your healthcare provider.
