Health Screens Information

Basic health screening involves a range of tests signed to search for signs of diseases and common health problems. They are often used as part of a preventative medicine programme - although they're also used to get to the bottom of broader medical issues and undiagnosed conditions.

Getting screened regularly can help you identify health issues before they worsen. The faster you receive treatment, the more likely it is to succeed. You can get tested for a range of common markers at a single iGP appointment. A single blood sample will be sent to our laboratory and screened for the following issues:

  • Blood disorders

  • Heart health

  • Diabetes and glucose levels

  • Whether you've reached a certain age, have a family history of disease or you're generally feeling unwell, a basic health screening can provide you with the answers you're looking for.

Your results may be completely normal, which means you can get on with your life. Crucially, however, your doctor will have an idea of where to take the investigation if abnormalities are found. Either way, you'll get your results within just a few days.

Do I Need Basic Health Screening?

A lot of serious health issues can develop without symptoms, so getting screened regularly is always a good idea. There are several reasons why you might need a quick and comfortable health screening at a local iGP clinic, including:

  • You feel unwell but don't know why

  • There's a history of disease in your family

  • You've reached a certain age

  • You simply like to be proactive about your health

  • You're recovering from illness

  • You're battling a serious illness

  • The iGP Standard Health Screening blood test checks for a comprehensive range of health markers. Perhaps you've reached a milestone age and want to check that you're fit and healthy. Maybe you haven't been feeling yourself lately and want to know what's causing your malaise. Whatever your reasons for needing a standard screening test, the clinicians at iGP are here to help.

Standard screening starts with a simple blood sample. An experienced and fully qualified member of our clinical team will draw a sample of your blood in one of our state-of-the-art clinics in South Wales. Your sample will then be analysed in our laboratory to search for key markers and abnormalities. If there's anything in your results that is a cause for concern, we may recommend further testing and a medical investigation.

We search for a huge range of potential health issues during the Standard screening process, including:

  • Blood disorders

  • Iron deficiency

  • Heart problems

  • Diabetes

  • Kidney problems

  • Calcium deficiency

  • Bone-related problems

  • We can test for all of these issues with a single sample to minimise your anxiety and stress levels. And should the need for further investigations arise, we'll explain the process to you in detail.

Do I Need Standard Health Screening?

Everyone can benefit from standard health screening once a year. We may be able to identify health problems before you experience symptoms - improving the chances of treatment delivering a favourable outcome.

If any of the following applies to you, it might be time to book an iGP Standard Health Screening test:

  • You've been feeling generally unwell for some time

  • You're worried about a congenital disease

  • You're worried that your age makes you more vulnerable to certain health conditions

  • You want to take a preventative approach to your health

  • You're recovering from illness

  • You're being treated for an illness

  • Standard Plus Health Screen - Preventative Medicine Tailored to Your Needs Don't wait for symptoms of serious health conditions to appear. Take the proactive approach to your health and wellbeing by booking a Standard Plus Health Screening at an iGP clinic in Cardiff, Swansea or Newport.

Our Standard Plus Health Screen test is designed for people who want to take a proactive approach to their health. Ideal for people who want to pursue preventative methods of healthcare, this comprehensive screening programme begins with a single blood test.

A trained and experienced iGP clinician will take a sample of your blood in one of our state-of-the-art South Wales private healthcare clinics. Your sample will then be sent to one of our laboratories for express testing. We screen for a multitude of markers in search of issues related to:

  • Blood disorders

  • Stress-related conditions

  • Thyroid-related disorders

  • Bone-related diseases

  • Calcium deficiency

  • Liver-related conditions

  • Urinary problems

  • Kidney-related conditions

  • Diabetes

  • Cardiovascular diseases

  • Anaemia

  • Our laboratory technicians will search for dozens of markers to identify the tell-tale signs of health issues before they cause symptoms. By getting ahead of common health problems, we can recommend treatments that can prevent diseases before they appear. At the very least, your doctor will be able to order more tests based on the findings.

Do I Need the Standard Plus Health Screen?

You don't need to be feeling unwell to benefit from our Standard Plus Health Screening. This screening programme is designed to uncover hidden health issues before they manifest. We'll look for certain markers that point to the potential for serious health issues, and make treatment or lifestyle recommendations based on our findings. If we find issues that may relate to serious problems, our clinical team will recommend further testing as part of the diagnostic process.

The Standard Plus Health Screen is our most comprehensive preventative Level Check screening programme, so if there's an identifiable problem, our physicians will find it.
