What is Vascular Surgery?

Vascular surgery is a specialist field of medicine that focuses on conditions affecting the arteries, veins, and lymphatic system. This includes the management of circulatory problems, leg ulcers, aneurysms, and varicose veins, often using minimally invasive techniques.

Symptoms or conditions that may require vascular input include:

  • Varicose veins or spider veins
  • Aching, heaviness, or swelling in the legs
  • Poor circulation or cold extremities
  • Peripheral arterial disease (PAD)
  • Non-healing ulcers or wounds
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
  • Limb pain during walking (intermittent claudication)
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome or vascular compression disorders

How iGP Can Help

At iGP, we offer initial consultations, clinical assessments, and non-surgical treatments with expert input from vascular surgery consultants who can arrange referrals for onward care at leading hospitals if surgical treatment is needed.

Common procedures include:

  • Endothermal Ablation of Varicose Veins – a keyhole treatment using heat to close damaged veins
  • Ultrasound-Guided Foam Sclerotherapy – injecting foam into veins to reduce varicose symptoms
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease Management – supporting diagnosis and monitoring of narrowed arteries
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Surveillance or Repair
  • Limb Salvage Surgery – multidisciplinary input for patients with high risk of amputation
  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Evaluation and Referral

Our consultant-led service ensures clarity, continuity, and timely intervention.

Why Choose iGP?

  • Access to Expert Consultant Assessment - Our vascular assessments are led by experienced consultants with extensive NHS and private sector backgrounds.
  • Fast, Coordinated Referrals - Where specialist intervention is required, we provide streamlined access to private hospital-based vascular services.
