IGP offers a range of travel vaccines suitable for those travelling and/or working abroad. Our vaccinations are carried out in healthcare registered clinics by experienced Practice Nurses and GP's on request.
* Please note that vaccine cost is the cost per dose to have the vaccine with a nurse and not a GP. There is an additional fee of £25 for the vaccine to be administered by a GP. The number of doses required indicates the number of doses for a standard course. An accelerated course can impact the number of doses required. It is strongly advised that you leave plenty of time to complete the course before your trip. Some vaccination courses, with more than one vaccine required, may take up to a month or longer and many vaccinations will not become fully effective until weeks after the course completion. The brand of vaccine we supply may also vary depending on the current supply status of a particular vaccine.

Tick-Borne Encephalitis (TBE) is a viral infection spread through the bite of infected ticks, commonly found in wooded and grassy areas in Europe, parts of Asia, and Russia. The disease can affect the central nervous system, leading to severe complications such as meningitis or encephalitis. While not all ticks carry the virus, TBE poses a significant risk in endemic areas, particularly during outdoor activities like hiking or camping. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent this disease.
The TBE vaccine is highly effective in preventing infection from the virus. It is typically administered in three doses over a 6–12 month period. For full protection, it is recommended to start the vaccination schedule well in advance of travel to endemic areas. The vaccine stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies, offering robust and long-term protection. A booster dose is recommended every 3–5 years for those who remain at risk.
The vaccine is recommended for travelers to endemic regions who plan to spend time outdoors in rural or forested areas. It is also advised for residents of high-risk areas and those engaging in activities like camping, hiking, or forestry work.
The vaccine provides a high level of protection against Tick-Borne Encephalitis when the full series is completed. Booster doses ensure continued immunity for those at risk.
Most side effects are mild and include soreness at the injection site, fatigue, or a mild fever. Serious reactions are extremely rare.
The vaccine offers protection for 3–5 years after the primary series. Regular booster doses are recommended for those who continue to visit or live in endemic areas.
Remove the tick as soon as possible using tweezers or a tick removal tool. Clean the bite area thoroughly with antiseptic and monitor for symptoms. Seek medical advice if symptoms such as fever or fatigue occur.
